England v Finland (Tues, 19:45 BST)

    England

  3. 'Best person should get England job'published at 15:19 British Summer Time 9 September

    15:19 BST 9 September

    England

Lee Carsley on feeling if he is closer to getting the job permanently: "I feel like we are a step closer as a team. I try not to think about it too much. The best person should get the job. I know my role for the next three camps and I am comfortable with that."

Lee Carsley on Sven-Goran Eriksson: "I was never lucky enough to meet him. I played against his teams a few times. He was a highly decorated coach as well. The period he had with England the generation of players he had everyone speaks highly of him.

"He will be remembered fondly I am sure."

  5. 'We want to put on a performance'published at 15:11 British Summer Time 9 September

    15:11 BST 9 September

    England

Harry Kane on squad mood: "The mood is good. The performance [against Republic of Ireland] was really good. There were areas especially in the second half where we could have controlled it better. It was as good an away performance as you could ask for.

"Everyone is excited to be back home in front of our own fans and we want to put on a performance, play an attacking style and we can only do that when are on the pitch tomorrow."

  6. 'If it changes also, I am happy with that'published at 15:08 British Summer Time 9 September

    15:08 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tues, 19:45 BST)

    England

Interim England boss Lee Carsley on whether he wants the job on a permanent basis : "I think it's quite clear I am doing the three camps. I'm really happy with that, if it changes also I'm happy with that. I'm very privileged in the position I'm in, in terms of the under-21s. I have enjoyed it so far.

"The important thing is the team as opposed to the coaches - they should be the ones in the spotlight and getting the attention."

  7. 'A new energy'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 9 September

    15:05 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tues, 19:45 BST)

    England

Harry Kane on working with Carsley: "It has been really good. A new energy into the place especially after the disappointing end to the summer.

"It has been great to work with the boss so far. He's brought his ideas, how he wants us to play. I think the lads have enjoyed it.

"We've got a good mixture of youth and experience in the team. You're seeing the excited faces of some of the new players."

  8. 'Hopefully we can show people on Tuesday again that we are moving forward'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 9 September

Lee Carsley on the changes he has implemented: "We have to be mindful that we've had six sessions now, in total. There's one or two things we have adjusted and tried to implement but I think we spoke about this a while back.

"There were a lot of good things already happening. We have just tried to make a few adjustments as opposed to wholesale changes. The players are open to trying something different or maybe being a bit more risky in certain areas.

"Hopefully we can show people on Tuesday again that we are moving forward."

  9. Kane on adapting his style to keep playingpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:58 BST 9 September

    England

Harry Kane on longevity: "It depends on circ*mstances and managers and different systems. As a player I have always been someone who can play high or drop deep. I feel I have the all around game to be effective in both areas.

"For me personally it is about being better, with Bayern and the new coach now there's a lot of high intensity pressing and a lot of high pressure situations without the ball especially and that is helping me improve. It is similar here with England too.

  10. 'Everyone in with a chance of playing'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:56 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

Lee Carsley on potentially giving some other players a chance tomorrow: "They all have a chance of playing. The level the players have trained at puts everyone in with a chance of playing. We have been very fortunate that having lost the other three lads [Phil Foden, Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer] early, we have been able to keep everyone else fit."

  11. 'Academies make our job easier'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:54 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

Lee Carsley on pathway through the youth system: "It has had a lot of benefits. We talk about the DNA, which is the way we want to play and coach, but the jobs academies are doing makes our job easier. The players are coming in at such a high level. When you lose a player that goes up to a higher age group, the next one comes in and it is almost a seamless transition.

"When a player comes into St Georges' Park, making sure they feel rated and cared for is just as important."

  12. 'We'll make two or three changes'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:52 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

Interim England boss Lee Carsley on leading out the senior side at Wembley: "It's not something I've thought about recently. It was a really proud moment the other day to be on the sideline, another great night hopefully for the players.

"Really looking forward to the game. We've had another couple of good sessions in between the last match, so I'm excited by it.

"We'll make two or three changes, freshen things up a little bit. What I've noticed with this group is how motivated they are to do well."

  13. Carsley on creating the right environmentpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:51 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

Lee Carsley on what he has learned from managing the Under-21s: "There's a lot of similarities, regardless of tactics and game plans the players have to know, that you believe in them and support them. If you create that environment then hopefully you will see performances."

  14. 'Number 9 role has changed'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:49 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

Lee Carsley on the traditional number nine role: "The role in general has changed, I think. The academy system has developed all-round footballers, who play in a number of positions.

"From a coach's point of view we have to be more receptive to a player's profile and capabilities rather than positions."

  15. 'Seeing Ronaldo, 39, play inspires me to play'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:47 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

Captain Harry Kane on his future ambitions in an England shirt: "I feel in really good shape, both physically and mentally, at a peak in my career. Watching other players, [Cristiano] Ronaldo scoring his 901st goal, seeing him compete at 39 years old inspires me to play for as long as possible

"I love this game, I love representing England - more than anything and I don’t want it to end any time soon

"For me, personally, now it’s about continuing to improve and being consistent both in an England shirt and at club level.

"I’m hungry for more. I’m determined to keep pushing the boundaries."

  16. 'If you make 11 changes it sends out the wrong signal'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:45 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

More from Lee Carsley, on potential changes for Tuesday's match against Finland at Wembley: "That is the balance. If you make 11 changes it maybe sends out the wrong signal. The good thing about this group is they are highly motivated to do well. There will be two or three changes, but not wholesale changes.

"We have to make sure we protect the players as well."

  17. 'Kane is motivated to win a major tournament'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 9 September

    14:43 BST 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

England interim boss Lee Carsley on Harry Kane's achievement, as he prepares for his 100th cap: "I've only worked with him for around seven days, but straightaway you can see how motivated he is, how committed he is, how good an example he is for the other players, every session he is first out.

"You could tell straightaway how motivated he is to win a major tournament, which is brilliant for whoever comes in."

  18. '100th cap will be special'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 9 September

England v Finland (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    England

England captain Harry Kane, speaking about being on the verge of winning his 100th cap: "It is really special. I always say it is sometimes hard to sink in when you are playing. I spoke previously about that with the goalscoring record, but this one I am extremely proud of.

"It is something I am really excited for, my family will be there to enjoy the moment as well and it is a moment I am sure when I am retired I will look back on."

    14:39 BST 9 September
