F01 Error On Whirpool Duet Dryer Mod : Ywed9300vu0
- Asked By Laurianne
I can't start my dryer and the error code F01 appears. What should I do?Thanks!
- Answered By MasterTech
That error is an internal failure of the main control board. The control board will need to either be replaced or rebuilt to fix the dryer. The boards are very expensive. The rebuild kit for the board is not that bad so if you know how to solder that is the way to go. The rebuild kit for the board is linked below.
The new board is linked below but like I said they are expensive.

I'm looking through the models listed, but I don't see mine. Mine is a WGD8300SW1.

The F1 error code is the same on yours as all the other model Whirlpool made dryers. It's an internal failure of the main control board. The only thing you can do is try and reset the electronics by killing power to it at the breaker/fuse panel on your home for one full minute then restore power. If after that the problem persists the board will need to be replaced. The control for your model can be ordered from the link below:

Was getting F01 on our Duet Sport (WED8300SW1) and tested the thermal fuse and found continuity, so we replaced the control board. Now we don't seem to be getting any power at all (and the fuse is still good). Any ideas?

Kenmore Elite HE 5t Steam Dryer F01 Error
- Asked By Mike Effinger
Details: Error Code: F01 Model Number: 110.87731702 My wife mentioned the 'dryer doesn't work'. I entered the laundry room and smelled smoke and F01 was flashing on the dryer display. After a quick search, I unplugged the dryer to reset. Plugged it back in and turned it on after 1min+ and it powered on fine, I could select options as normal, but when I selected start, the display panel went dark and F01 appeared after 10 seconds. After reading your feedback to other, I'm more than willing to try to change the thermal fuse (first) and control panel second. If you think either is the likely cause. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Mike
- Answered By MasterTech
Hello Mike,
Considering the fact that you smelled smoke the issue with your dryer is definitely a failed main control board. The fuse will never cause smoke and that electrical burning smell that is a complete meltdown of the main control board. The board you will need to replace for your Kenmore Elite Dryer model number 110.87731702 is linked below:
The video below shows instructions to change the board:

Whirlpool Dryer Model WED9400SW1 F01 Error Code
- Asked By L Rhodes
F01 Dryer will not start Has power all lights on Had power outage last night.
- Answered By MasterTech
You can try and reset the main control by killing power to the dryer at the breaker or by unplugging it for no less than one full minute, restore power and see if the error persists, if it does then the power surge shorted the main control board on the dryer and it will have to be replaced to fix the dryer. The replacement control board for your model dryer can be ordered from Amazon at the link below:

F1 error code
- Asked By Vaughn McCamy
I changed the main board out with a new board and still getting the F 1 code. I checked the thermal fuse and it had continuity using a meter. What else might it be? I was first getting the f70 code and I cleaned it out as it was very dirty with lint. That's when I started getting the f1 code. wed9200sq0 is the model. Thanks foer any help you might be able to supply. Vaughn McCamy
- Answered By MasterTech
Hello Vaughn,
In some rare cases a bad outlet thermistor can cause the F1 error code, follow the instructions at the link below and replace the thermistor if that does not fix the issue the dryer has a wiring problem in the wiring harness somewhere which in many cases takes a very seasoned tech to trace down and pinpoint. The thermistor part number listed in the directions below is the correct part for the model number you gave. I verified it.

I just wanted to say thanks for saving me a pile of cash!
- Asked By Larry Jones
I was about to order and replace the control board because of the F01 error code when I came across this website and found that it could also possibly be the thermal fuse. So I checked it and sure enough that was the problem. Guess I was lucky. Thank you!
- Answered By MasterTech
Glad you got it fixed.

Can the F01 error be caused by anything other than the control board?
- Asked By John
I took the board out and looked it over and I do not see any burned spots on the board, it looks good. I just want to make sure it can only be the board before I order one. Thanks.
- Answered By MasterTech
First just because the board does not have any bad spots on it does not mean it's ok. Having said that in some cases the error can be caused by a failed thermal fuse, so if you want to be certain it's the board make sure you check the thermal fuse with a meter, it's located on top of the blower wheel housing.
